Orca gives its killer whale a personal grievance and lets that grievance organize the pursuit of a human hunter. The premise reverses the usual division between instinctive animal and reasoning person, encouraging the viewer to recognize deliberate retaliation. Water becomes a boundary the human characters cannot keep safely outside their lives. Watch how the film asks the hunter to understand the consequences of his act through repetition, making the eventual confrontation a question of responsibility as well as physical survival.
