Robot Jox makes territorial conflict into a formal contest between pilots operating giant machines. The arena promises a controlled substitute for war, but ambition, sabotage and personal loyalty keep breaking through the rules. Its miniature effects make scale a major pleasure: every heavy movement must communicate the presence of a human decision inside the machinery. Watch the difference between performing for spectators and fighting to survive once the agreed contest can no longer contain the antagonists.
