The Street Fighter makes its central fighter abrasive, calculating and physically formidable. Rather than giving martial skill an automatically noble purpose, the film allows survival, money and reluctant obligation to pull in different directions. Its violence is designed to feel consequential, with close bodily detail punctuating the larger movements. Watch how a change in loyalty affects the meaning of the same fighting ability: being dangerous is a fact, while deciding whom to endanger is the character's unsettled question.
