The Supernaturals joins a contemporary military exercise to the violent residue of an earlier war. Training assumes that danger can be simulated and contained, while the supernatural threat refuses to recognize the boundary of an exercise. Watch the contrast between command language and what the soldiers can actually observe. The forest becomes unsettling when a familiar formation or uniform may belong to a different time, making historical violence something the present has entered rather than something it can safely remember.
