Terror Toons brings cartoon antagonists into a live action world and lets their elastic logic become a source of bodily danger. A visual gag can be frightening when the people on screen are subject to consequences the cartoon figures appear able to ignore. Watch how cheapness and obvious artifice become part of the premise: the invaders do not need to look natural to seem out of place. The central attraction is the unstable border between slapstick damage and horror injury.
